CALCIUM

Maintaining calcium levels is essential to coral growth. Levels 

between 400-460ppm is recommended. 

DIY calcium mix for your saltwater aquarium 

Recipe 1, Calcium 

Dissolve 500 grams of calcium chloride dihydrate 77% in enough water to make 3.78L (1 gallon) total volume. You will use less water than 3.78L due to the volume of the calcium. 

This solution has about 37,000 ppm calcium.

The use of scales is recommended 

Place container on scales and zero the scales.

Add 500g of calcium chloride and then add enough water to container until scales show 3.78kg.

Shake well, The bottle will get warm, this is normal. 

Recipe 2, Calcium 

Dissolve 250 grams (about 1 ¼ cups) of calcium chloride dihydrate 77% in enough water to make 3.78L or 1 gallon of total volume. You can dissolve it in about ½ the water needed, and then fill the rest after it dissolved This solution is about 18,500 ppm in calcium. 

If using an anhydrous or monohydrate calcium chloride use 20% less
